Radar

Review is work for AI, too

Google introduces Deep Review for analyzing technical documents, checking arguments, and supporting review. The proposal extends a line of work that began with scientific manuscripts.

How to put it into practice

Try itTry reviewing a public document and compare the notes with a human reading.

Keep this in mindThe tool offers assistance, not professional validation. Check data policies and current terms before submitting documents.

Agents that understand the landscape

An experimental agent connects geospatial models, tools, and planning for analyses that require multiple steps. It is a concrete example of general AI combined with domain knowledge.

How to put it into practice

Try itSee how planning and specialized sources enter the workflow before the answer.

Keep this in mindExperimental access and a specialized domain. Results do not automatically transfer to other businesses.

As code speeds up, the bottleneck shifts

Anthropic describes building an internal version control system for an agent-intensive operation. The case highlights new challenges in infrastructure, code review, and integration.

How to put it into practice

Try itMap your delivery bottleneck before investing in more code generation.

Keep this in mindThis is an internal case at an unusual scale, not a recommendation to abandon Git.

Tools an agent can use

Tool names, descriptions, parameters, and responses affect execution quality. This article discusses how to design and evaluate interfaces for agents.

How to put it into practice

Try itReview a tool: make its purpose, parameters, and errors explicit, then test failure cases.

Keep this in mindA well-described interface does not remove the need for permissions and validation.

Practical guideLiving documentation

Your first small agent

Documentation for a Python library for building agents that use tools or code. It includes getting started material and isolated execution options.

How to put it into practice

Try itBuild a prototype with a read-only tool and a well-scoped task.

Keep this in mindGenerated code requires isolation. Selected models and services may have their own costs.

How to tell whether the agent improved

A starting point for evaluating agent workflow behavior, using execution traces, and comparing changes against representative case sets.

How to put it into practice

Try itRecord five real failures and turn them into repeatable evaluation cases.

Do more agents really help?

An experimental analysis examines when agent coordination helps and when it adds cost or gets in the way. Task structure matters when choosing an architecture.

How to put it into practice

Try itCompare a simple and a parallel workflow on the same task, with quality and cost defined.

Keep this in mindThe results are limited to the study's configurations and tests.

RAG: answers grounded in documents

A foundational work combining a model's memory with external document retrieval. It helps explain the concepts behind answers grounded in a knowledge collection.

How to put it into practice

Try itSeparate the problem of finding the right document from the problem of producing the answer.

Keep this in mindA foundational paper. It does not by itself describe current implementation practices and tools.

ReAct: observe, act, adjust

Studies the combination of reasoning and actions with observations from an environment. It is a reference for understanding agents that consult tools throughout a task.

How to put it into practice

Try itIdentify when an assistant needs to look for evidence instead of continuing to generate text.

Keep this in mindResults depend on the environments studied. Reasoning explanations do not prove correctness.

How models learn to use tools

Studies training that teaches models when to call APIs and incorporate their results. It provides context for the development of models that interact with external tools.

How to put it into practice

Try itUse this reading to distinguish model capability, tool design, and system orchestration.

Keep this in mindThis is research on training, not a tutorial for deploying today's agents.

Evaluate RAG beyond a polished answer

Organizes evaluation dimensions for RAG systems, covering retrieval and generation. It helps structure questions about relevance and faithfulness to sources.

How to put it into practice

How we choose

Curiosity with standards.

We look for materials that help people understand a change, test an approach or ask better questions. We prioritize publications by the authors, official documentation and original research.

What belongs in the library?

A reference must have an identifiable source, a connection to an application, and enough context to explain its limitations. Foundational papers remain useful even when they are not recent. Preprints may not have been peer-reviewed; vendor reports reflect their own environments.

How are materials updated?

We monitor official sources and review references periodically. The radar date records a review actually performed, not a promise of real-time updates. Links, access conditions and products can change. Please use the contact below to request corrections.

Is this content independent?

Yes. 1stgeniusAI is a project by Eugenius Friedmann. It does not represent the suppliers mentioned or his employers. This version contains no affiliate links. Summaries are editorial interpretations and do not replace the original source or a professional assessment.
